Felicitation of SSLC toppers of our midday meal schools

Today was an eventful day for us, at Adamya Chetana Foundation. Started in the memory of late Smt, Girija Sastry twenty year ago, this foundation has taken upon itself the key task of Anna-Akshara-Arogya as its key intervention areas to help the society.

It is over 15 years since we started the MidDayMeals program, with the intent to support students from under privileged background to study further. We are humbly proud that we have served over 44 cr hot, tasty and nutritious meals in these years over 5 kitchens.

This initiative is heavily dependent on the support from our volunteers and donors, given that we run the MDM program which is partly supported by the Government with the remaining support required to be generated by the Foundation. The only outcome that we expect from this initiative from our students is that they study well and leverage good education to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Adamya Chetana organized felicitation of SSLC toppers of our midday meal schools. The felicitation program was presided by Shri AnanthKumar.
“When we started this 15 year ago, the pass percentage of students in these schools was around 32% and today, it is very satisfying to see the same increase to 95%. That shows the fire in the belly of these students who want to make a difference to themselves and the society around us. And it is very evident that these students are as capable as any students from any of the well-funded high end private schools.

When I see this difference in infrastructure of these Government schools & private schools, it is very stark. And inspite of this difference , our students have done a very commendable task. I urge the Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka and Hon. Education Minister, to create a “Special Action Plan” to provide top class infrastructure. Our future lies in the hands of these students indeed.” Said Shri Ananthkumar, Hon’ble minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilisers.
All students, their teachers and parents toured the Annapoorna kitchen of Adamya Chetana appreciating the hygiene and taste of the food prepared. Many parents remarked that they would try and emulate these practices at home or in their neighborhood to contribute to reduction of pollution.

Along with Shri Ananthkumar and Dr. Tejaswini Ananthkumar, Sri AVSM P P Khandekar Rtd. Air Marshal, Sri Ravi Subramanya MLA Basavanagudi, Sri Kempegowda BBMP Member, Sri Vidyashankar were present.
